Changing Paths is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the growth and development of youth whose parents are incarcerated. We provide mentoring, literacy support, fatherhood programs, and real-life guidance so young people can break cycles of negative behavior and become productive, successful members of society.

We primarily serve youth and families impacted by parental incarceration. Our programs focus on boys and girls (with a strong emphasis on young Black males and females), new and returning fathers, and incarcerated or formerly incarcerated youth.

While many of our programs (especially Young Black & Gifted and Let’s Grow 2gether) focus on the unique challenges faced by Black youth, we welcome and support all young people impacted by parental incarceration.

We are based in New Jersey and primarily serve youth and families in the Newark and surrounding communities, with a focus on areas heavily impacted by incarceration.

Absolutely. Our Symposium Group is built around men and women who have overcome incarceration and now use their lived experience to mentor and inspire youth. We also welcome formerly incarcerated fathers into the Dad Network.
